Review: Thirteen Reasons Why

Thirteen Reasons Why Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the kind that makes us question everything that we know about the people around us.
How we seem to lose track of time thinking about things that concern nobody but ourselves.

Several people in this story could have prevented several things, but they simply chose not to.
Clay knew that Bryce was a jerk, and he saw it happen in front of his eyes, yet he did nothing to stop it from happening because if he had, he probably might have prevented one reason for Hannah's suicide.

If Clay had been there for her that day, the day of the party and not actually gone out and given her a shoulder to cry on, she might have found something worth holding on to.

If Hannah had not sat around and cried even when she knew full well that just letting her presence known would have saved her friend.

I love the book, mostly 'cause it gives us something to think about. To think about something we may be missing about the people around us, that is very obvious and at the same time, we choose to ignore, because of the illusion of security that is all around us.
